Time to get back to writing...

Hello! It sure has been a long time. So much has happened in the past few Months. I had a baby, beautiful little boy, who is now a little over eight Months, I got married to a wonderful Man, who is of course the father of my baby, and I lost my dad...this Month, to a freaking brain hemorrhage. I feel as though I have grown in so many ways. I have changed. Becoming a mother has brought certain qualities to the surface that I was not aware I possess. I think Its time for me to get back to doing what I love, and that includes writing in this little blog of mine. I am going to concentrate on different topics that do not necessarily touch on my personal life. I do tend to get carried away and pour my heart out, but I will try to control that and instead find things to write about that I am passionate about - aside from me LOL! So expect a  post soon... XOXO

"Choices"

Image
I have been meaning to post something for a couple of days now. But I didn't feel inspired! until today... A few weeks ago I was having a bad day I think, and I had a conversation with someone about how if we could see the future we probably would not bother to do 90% of the things we do now, seeing as God has a somewhat mean sense of humour, and he sometimes enjoys watching us make our dumb plans only for him to come and disrupt them somewhere down the line. This friend pointed out that maybe we just like putting the blame on God because it's just easier to do so, than to admit that it's the choices that we make that actually shape our lives. I thought about what he said and realized how correct he was. There are always exceptions of course, but that's the general rule. Our choices shape our lives, period. Today I had a somewhat similar and rather heated discussion with another friend.   I have made some really dumb decisions in the past. Some knowingly,...

Where do I start... Every year, when it's time to pay my rent, I start thinking about how much I would like for this to one day stop altogether. My parents were teachers, employed by the Government, so I was born in a house that my parents ended up living in for more than twenty years. And when my father retired a few years ago, he was able to purchase the said house from the government. Rent was never an issue. Until I started my own life, in this beautiful and crazy City. Having recently moved to a bigger place, my rent has gone higher. Most Landlords require payment of a year's rent upfront, and if you are lucky, six months. I am positive rent would not be so painful if we could pay on a monthly basis. When I own a couple of houses I will let my tenants pay in this way. It is way easier to find that Tsh. 500,000/- or 800,000/- every month as opposed to the twelve months equivalent lump sum.  Nowadays even affording buying a plot in a decent neighbourho...

Holiday Destinations

Image
So as I mentioned in my previous post, I wont be going home for Christmas this year. That leaves me with three whole weeks of freedom... I am planning on travelling. I just haven't decided yet where I want to go. At first I thought maybe Zanzibar, but I'm just not feeling Zanzibar for some reason. I would like to go to a place I have never been before. I'm thinking cold weather, mountains, lots of green... Yap, that is what I have in mind. The Place in is Morogoro, Udzungwa falls to be precise. I have read that its a couple of a hundred KM from Mikumi National Park, about five hours from Dar Es Salaam. There is one lodge that stood out, Udzungwa Falls Lodge, it looks like a lovely place to visit. It is pretty awesome isn't it? So this particular destination has won my heart. I imagine reading a book, wearing a cozy sweater drinking a warm cup of tea while looking at that view...maybe going hiking to where the waterfalls are, swimming there (assuming i...

The Holidays are Here!!

Image
I can't believe that Christmas is almost here!! Time just flies by... I keep thinking of this time last year and how different everything was! Wouldn't our lives be so much easier if we could see into the future? I have been trying to remember Christmases past...as I was growing up. And the funny bit is I don't have that many memories. The thing that seems to stand out is Dodoma in December... I remember certain trees that have red flowers, the flowers only come out in December. I think they may possibly give out a sweet smell of sorts...now that screamed Christmas for me. The smell in the air, the weather, that feeling of being home for the holidays from school, it really was priceless.. I found that picture on  this  blog! Those are the trees i'm talking about. This street...I grew up in that street. The picture was taken from Dodoma Hotel, the road as you are going to Kilimani club. The road home. How I miss that street, in that weath...

Monday inspiration

I was introduced to Linda Ikeji's blog by a friend, Victoria. And since then I became a loyal fan. I go through the blog on a daily basis because it's the one place where you are guaranteed to get all the latest news from all over the world. Entertainment News, Politics, name it, you find it there. So I got to the Office this morning and did a few things, then I needed a short break before continuing with what I planned on accomplishing today. I opened Linda's blog and found that she has recently bought herself a Mansion... She is a 35 year old single woman. She blogs for a living. She doesn't attack people to get readers, she simply provides her readers with the most current news. She wrote a long post about how she got where she is today and urged young women to find something they are passionate about and to go for it. Honestly? I'm inspired. There is no way a normal 35 year old person, employed in an institution can accomplish what she has managed to. I...

New Month Goals ....anyone?????!!

The year is almost over. How that happened I honestly have no idea. I am turning a year older on the 8th of November. Yap, that's right, a year older. I am of that age where I do not go around telling people exactly how old I am.  At the beginning of the year I thought I had all the time in the world to accomplish all sorts of things. An now I am out of time.  Well almost out of time! But if I am correct, I have about 90 or so days till the year ends. 90 days. I am not the new year resolutions kind of person. But I had some stuff that I was hoping to have accomplished before the year ends. Maybe I will? There's still hope? Am I happy with the way this year has turned out for me? I have not done any major changes in my life. Maybe that's a good and bad thing at the same time. Well think about you and what you have so far accomplished in these ten months since 2015 started. Are you happy with your situation? There is one thing that I i...
