"Choices"

I have been meaning to post something for a couple of days now. But I didn't feel inspired! until today...
A few weeks ago I was having a bad day I think, and I had a conversation with someone about how if we could see the future we probably would not bother to do 90% of the things we do now, seeing as God has a somewhat mean sense of humour, and he sometimes enjoys watching us make our dumb plans only for him to come and disrupt them somewhere down the line.

This friend pointed out that maybe we just like putting the blame on God because it's just easier to do so, than to admit that it's the choices that we make that actually shape our lives. I thought about what he said and realized how correct he was. There are always exceptions of course, but that's the general rule. Our choices shape our lives, period.

Today I had a somewhat similar and rather heated discussion with another friend.  

I have made some really dumb decisions in the past. Some knowingly, others, well not so knowingly. 
How many of us get that "gut feeling" that something is good or bad? That feeling that you get before you do something, and you know if it's going to turn out well or not? how many of us listen to those voices?

Does that constitute a choice?That little voice you hear warning you not to trust someone, yet you push it aside and dive in head first...if things do not work out in the end, can you blame it on God's mean sense of humour? Or should that be blamed on your own stupidity and your choice to ignore the gut feeling?

Choices...
How many times have we settled for situations that we know are beneath us, only because it was convenient at that particular time? or we decided to throw caution to the wind and "go with the flow"??!!

Maybe it's time to stop making idiotic choices. Maybe it's time to acknowledge our worth and actually live by those rules. Maybe, just maybe, if we do that, we will avoid some unnecessary heart aches and dramas, and actually be happy.

If bad things are to happen, then may they happen because they were indeed meant to happen. But not because we foolishly put ourselves in impossible situations and hoped for miracles, or simply pretended not to know that the outcome is most likely going to be disastrous!!!





Choices, choices, choices...make some good ones!

Where do I start... Every year, when it's time to pay my rent, I start thinking about how much I would like for this to one day stop altogether. My parents were teachers, employed by the Government, so I was born in a house that my parents ended up living in for more than twenty years. And when my father retired a few years ago, he was able to purchase the said house from the government. Rent was never an issue. Until I started my own life, in this beautiful and crazy City. Having recently moved to a bigger place, my rent has gone higher. Most Landlords require payment of a year's rent upfront, and if you are lucky, six months. I am positive rent would not be so painful if we could pay on a monthly basis. When I own a couple of houses I will let my tenants pay in this way. Death, Loss and grief...and new beginnings

 I have been dreading doing this. Writing about the past year.  But I woke up with a very heavy heart today, and its not an unfamiliar feeling. I have felt this way the day my father passed away, on 2nd February 2017, and the day my mother passed away too, on 3rd September 2019. I fear that it means another death is eminent. But I am scared of even voicing those thoughts. I need to write two submissions today and unless I am able to shake off this heaviness in my heart, I fear I might not be able to meet my deadlines. So here goes. When my father died, three years ago, as hard and painful as it was,I never really came as close to death as I did when mama passed on. I was with him for a week at the Hospital as he was hooked to a machine. I got to talk to him, to pray with him, to tell him I loved him, to apologize for being a crappy daughter. Time to get back to writing...

Hello! It sure has been a long time. So much has happened in the past few Months. I had a baby, beautiful little boy, who is now a little over eight Months, I got married to a wonderful Man, who is of course the father of my baby, and I lost my dad...this Month, to a freaking brain hemorrhage. I feel as though I have grown in so many ways. I have changed. Becoming a mother has brought certain qualities to the surface that I was not aware I possess. I think Its time for me to get back to doing what I love, and that includes writing in this little blog of mine. I am going to concentrate on different topics that do not necessarily touch on my personal life. I do tend to get carried away and pour my heart out, but I will try to control that and instead find things to write about that I am passionate about - aside from me LOL! So expect a  post soon...
